This Monday, January 25, Dior unveiled its spring-summer 2021 haute couture collection, deployed around the Visconti-Sforza tarot, decorated by the illuminator Bonifacio Bembo for the Duke of Milan in the 15th century. Directed by Matteo Garrone, the film baptized The Castle of the Tarot begins with a drawing which will be the beginning of a real initiatory journey.

At the heart of the castle, a multitude of possibilities symbolized by characters embodying the major mysteries of the tarot game. Symbolizing both man and woman, two sexes whose qualities become one and the same entity at the end of the short film, the main character will overcome many trials before encountering the nameless Arcanum, also referred to as Death, a true symbol of rebirth. It was during the first confinement that Maria Grazia Chiuri decided to deepen her knowledge of the tarot, in particular by reading the fantastic novel The Castle of Crossed Destinies by Italo Cavino. A universe that resonates today more than ever with the history of the house and many figures that inspire the artistic director daily, such as Niki de Saint Phalle, creator of the Tarot Garden in Tuscany or Vicki Noble. , American healer and shaman.
