"The CMA (Coordination of Azawad movements, ex-rebellion) held a meeting on Wednesday. The decision is that we are asking Gatia (Tuareg Imghad and Allies self -defense group to leave the city of Kidal, before the discussions "planned with them on their return, AFP Alghabass AG Intalla, head of the High Council, told AFP.For the Azawad unit (HCUA), one of the main components of the CMA.

According to him, some CMA officials were "for the arrival of Gatia in the city", and others "against this arrival".

"It is true that the gatia had to arrive. But not like that.It is a violation of the Algiers agreement. It is not normal.Gatia must get out of Kidal, "said this CMA leader, referring to the peace agreement negotiated in Algiers and signed in Bamako in May-June 2015 with the Malian government and the groups that support him.

"For the moment, we do not want war," he added, questioned by AFP on the risk of resumption of hostilities due to the presence of Gatia in Kidal.Calm reigned in the city on Wednesday.

During the night of Monday to Tuesday, hundreds of Gatia members entered Kidal without violence, announced on Tuesday this group and the CMA, ensuring acting in good intelligence.

The fighting between CMA and pro-Bamako groups, predominantly Touareg on both sides, continued in the summer of 2015 despite the signing of the peace agreement. But they have ceased since the conclusion of "honor pacts" between the belligerents on October 16, after three weeks of meetings in Anefis, near Kidal.

Northern Mali had fallen in March-April 2012 under the thumb of jihadist groups after the rout of the army in the face of the rebellion, first combined with these groups which then ousted it.

These jihadist groups were largely hunted by the international military intervention launched in January 2013 on the initiative of France, which is currently continuing.

But whole areas still escape the control of the Malian and foreign forces.
