Les 12 candidats de l’épreuve « créateur de mode » des WorldSkills France sont enfermés depuis ce vendredi 14 mai 2021 dans les salles du lycée de Tocqueville de Cherbourg, pour confectionner une robe de cocktail.

At the Tocqueville high school in Cherbourg, we train the seamstresses of tomorrow.Thus, the representative of the Normandy region, Anaïs Bréhon, comes from the benches of this high school.After a baccalaureate in Vire, this young resident of Flers wanted to do her BTS clothes in Cherbourg."My friends recommended it to me.And it feels good to change teachers, ”explains this 21 -year -old young lady.Like her, there are between 10 and 15 to enter the sewing sector in Tocqueville every year."We have a CAP fashion trades, blurring clothing option, then there is the professional baccalaureate and the BTS fashion trades, clothing option," explains M.Gabion, teacher at high school.A renowned designer could thus leave the benches of the Cherbourgeoise school."You often have to continue with a license," said the professor.And if the sector is far from being unique in France, another more confidential training is also offered in Cherbourg: the DTMS option Dressing.This one -year training teaches the repair, cleaning and threading of costumes.A little known, but sought after knowledge, both on parades and on films, shows ... "We form the little hands that dress and undress, in the shade, artists in period costumes or in cabaret outfits.In full light or at the front, you have to know how to do it in any conditions and in a minimum of time, details Elineuza Dubois, the technical assistant for the training.We also teach costume maintenance and repair with their specificities.»And the know-how of Tocqueville is recognized."We have students who are now working at the Moulin Rouge or Lido," says Mr..Gabion.Here, undressing becomes an art.
A title that opens doors
In the room, silence reigns, as for an examination.The concentration is maximum, because the title of champion of France is at stake."When you put it on its CV, it necessarily opens doors, and it impresses," says Gaël Hunault.
